Sa Bum Nim Armando "Mando" Olivarez has a long history and love for learning martial arts. He has been dedicated to martial arts ideas, theories, way of life, and its discipline as a student and instructor since the age of 14.


Sa Bum Nim earned his first Black Belt in the discipline of Tea Kwon Do teaching and practicing anywhere he could.He would teach out of his garage, outside of his home and eventually started teaching out of a dojo in Edinburg in the late 70’s.This lasted for a short while since Sa Bum Nim was influenced by Kuk Sool Won.

In the early 80’s Sa Bum Nim became ill with Kuk Sool Won fever. He drove to Brownsville every day to train and study Kuk Sool Won under the instruction of Manuel Lozano.  From this point on he became a dedicated student and instructor of Kuk Sool Won to 2010.


Sa Bum Nim opened schools in Edinburg and Edcouch-Elsa, and also taught at home and anywhere he could.  His influence in teaching and the performance of his students drew and currently draws attention from all areas of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Sa Bum Nim also found time to dedicate himself in obtaining a black belt in Goju Ryu and Tang Soo Do (2005).


In 2010, Sa Bum Nim joined the World Mu Sool Won Association and has been actively training under Grandmaster Byung In Lee, founder of Mu Sool Won.

Sa Bum Nim continues to teach Mu Sool Won in Pharr, Texas as a 4th Dan Instructor.

Kyo Sa Nim Hector Gaitan has been a long standing student of Sa Bum Nim Mando. Kyo Sa Nim has been studying under the direction of Sa Bum Nim since the early 1990s. Kyo Sa Nim has 18 years of martial arts experience and has earned his Black Belt in Kuk Sool and most recently in Mu Sool Won.

Kyo Sa Nim was lured into martial arts after his younger brother had been a student of Sa Bum Nim for almost a year. He was infected with the Kuk Sool fever after a couple of lessons and has since been a dedicated student and instructor. 

Kyo Sa Nim continues learning and teaching under the guidance of Sa Bum Nim Mando.       

Jo Kyo Nim Albert Gonzalez has been a student of the Korean martial arts since 1990. He started by studing the art Tae Kwon Do, but shortly after was introduced to Sa Bum Nim Mando and the art of Kuk Sool Won. Through the enthuisam of Sa Bum Nim and the encouragment of his cousin he was captured in the Kuk Sool fever.

From this point forward Jo Kyo Nim made it a point to learn all he could, spending long hours practicing to try and learn everything that Sa Bum Nim offered. Jo Kyo Nim Albert earned his Black Belt in Kuk Sool and is now a Black Belt in Mu Sool Won. Jo Kyo Nim continues to study martial arts under the direction of Sa Bum Nim Mando. Throughout this time, Jo Kyo Nim also earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology with minor in Biology. In 2004 he went back to school and earned his associated degree in nursing, and he has received his Master's in Nursing Science with the ultimate goal of becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.


Jo Kyo Nim continues to practice under the guidance of Sa Bum Nim Mando.



Jo Kyo Nim Michael Gaitan has been a student of Sa Bum Nim since the age of 7 years old. He has continued his studies of the martial arts since and has earned his Black Belts in Ku Sool and most recently in the descipline of Mu Sool Won. Jo Kyo Nim Michael continues to pursue advancement in the art of Mu Sool Won.
